What's the difference between a Standard Fare and a Flexi Fare?

Our Standard fares are our best value fares. They’re non-refundable, so they suit people who don’t need to change their travel plans.

Our Flexi Fares give you the freedom to change or cancel your trip. Flexi fares include these fare types: Adult (AD), Child (CH), Student (ST), Backpacker (BP) and Golden Age (GA).

Standard Fares
With a Standard Fare you can change bus and ferry bookings up to 2 hours before departure. Booking fees and any additional fare charges will apply. If you phone our contact centre to change your booking, we charge a $5 processing fee.
If you change or cancel a Standard fare, the credit for the fare will appear in your cart so you can use it towards a new booking. This credit will expire at midnight so you must use it immediately.
You can’t change or cancel train bookings on a Standard fare.
There is no refund if you change or cancel a Standard fare.

Flexi Fares
With a Flexi Fare you can change or cancel bus and ferry bookings up to 2 hours before departure. Booking fees and any additional fare charges apply. If you phone our contact centre to change your booking, we charge a $5 processing fee.
You can change or cancel train bookings up to 48 hours before departure.
You can get a full refund of your fare if you cancel bus or ferry bookings more than two hours before departure, or train bookings more than 48 hours before departure.
You need to claim your refunds within 31 days after you cancel. Booking fees are non-refundable.
