Can children travel solo?

Children less than 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult on all InterCity Group operated services.

Children aged between 7 and 12 years of age (inclusive) can travel on direct services only as Unaccompanied Minors (except on our overnight services). When you book a child fare online you will be asked to provide info on the child travelling, name of person collecting the child on arrival and consent to the terms and conditions of travel.

Read about unaccompanied minors.

You can also download the Unaccompanied Minor form, print it out and fax it if you have booked a different fare or via the call centre. This info is sent through to all the right channels internally and the driver will receive a record of it.

We've made an info sheet to help prepare children travelling alone with us. It has information for parents and children about what to bring, what to do on the bus and at rest stops.

Take a look at the info sheet here.
